

John E. Muroski, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, in Orlando, Florida. John was born on February 12, 1927, in Orlando, Florida, to John and Pearl (Godshall) Muroski. He graduated from Orlando High School in 1945. After graduation, he served as a Merchant Marine during WWII, and then enlisted in the United States Army. He married Jeanne (Shriver) on February 3, 1951, in Orlando. They were married for 43 years before her passing. John’s hobbies included fishing and boating. His summers were spent on the “Dry Martini” in the Bahamian Islands with his family.
Over the years, John engaged in many career opportunities. In the 1950s, John owned his own construction company and was the sole developer of Morningside Park in Orlando. In 1961, he started and operated his own insurance agency. In 1975, John opened the “Big Man’s Stores.” During the same year, he also helped organize the Bank of Central Florida. He served as Chairman of the Board and CEO until the bank sold in 2002, at which time he retired. During his banking days, John was on the Board of Directors for both Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Independent Bankers Bank. John was also a Master Mason, 32nd Degree Mason, and Shriner.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanne; and his brothers, Walt and Rod. He is survived by his two children; Karen “Suesy” (and her husband, Eddie) Roan, of Orlando, and Brad Muroski, of Ocoee; and grandchildren, Kellie (and her husband, Nathan) Landwer, Blair (and his wife, Jaeann) Ashton, Shannon Muroski and Heather Muroski.
The family will be receiving friends on Monday, April 30th, from 11am – 12pm, at Woodlawn Funeral Home (400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida – 407-293-1361), followed by a Service in the Chapel at 12 pm, then internment at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
