

Johnnie Lewis Thomas was born on June 23, 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida to Johnny Flagg and Lorraine Thomas. He was the youngest of four children. He peacefully transitioned from this life on January 18, 2026.
Johnnie attended Stanton High School in Jacksonville, Florida where he met his lovely wife Cynthia Jackson. He graduated from Stanton High School in 1971 and immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force serving his country with honor and dedication.
On October 6, 1973, he married his high school sweetheart Cynthia Jackson; beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in faith, love, and commitment. Together they have 3 children.
Johnnie Thomas earned his Associate degree from Valencia Community College in Respiratory Therapy. He was the owner of Health Care Medical and Professional Oxygen home healthcare for over 8 years and dedicated over 25 years of his professional life to healthcare. He retired as a Respiratory Therapist in 2013, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, service, and care for those in need.
Alongside his career in the medical field, Johnnie was ordained as a deacon in 1995 and later ordained as a minister then elder.
In 2006, by the direction of the Holy Spirit, along with his wife, Pastor Johnnie answered the call to pastoral ministry. He founded H.O.P.E. for Life Ministries Inc. where he served faithfully as a shepherd, teacher, and spiritual leader, impacting lives through sound doctrine, steady leadership, and genuine care for God’s people. He had a heart to win souls to God’s Kingdom.
In 2021, he passed the mantle of pastoral leadership to his eldest son Kurstin Lewis Thomas and became the overseer of H.O.P.E. for Life Ministries which has rebranded into Kingdom Life Embassy. His leadership and example strengthened both the church and the surrounding community. His life was marked by unwavering faith, service, and obedience to God’s calling.
Johnnie Thomas was proceeded in death by his grandfather John Bailey, his grandmother Isabel Bailey, his mother Lorraine Thomas, his father Johnny Flagg, his two sisters Celestine (Tina) Thomas Williams and Brenda Troupe.
He also leaves to cherish and carry on his Legacy of Love:his devoted wife, Cynthia Thomas, his three beloved children, Kurstin Thomas (Constance Thomas), Kevin Thomas, and Kellie Thomas, affectionately known as G-PA to his three loving grandchildren Aniyah Anneus, Akailah Anneus, and Kaleb Thomas, his brother Velton Thomas, along with a host of loving extended family, church family, and friends.
He will be deeply missed, yet his legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know him.
Family will receive friends on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 5-7pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Fl., 34734
Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 10:00am at Ebon Temple Inc., 7001 Wallace Road, Orlando, Fl., 32819.
