Jorge Luis Pastrana Alvarez passed away on September 28, 2026.
Jorge was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, abuelo, brother, and friend whose warmth, humor, humility, and kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Born in the Bronx, New York, and raised in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Jorge was the son of Felicita Alvarez and Jorge Luis Pastrana and brother to Juan Rafael Pastrana Alvarez and Jurgen Louis Ertle Von Freedon.
Jorge married his devoted wife, Aida V. Pastrana, in 1981. Throughout their 45 years of marriage, they built a life together, raised three children in Puerto Rico and Florida, danced, laughed, and shared their love of cooking Puerto Rican food together.
Jorge had a lifelong passion for salsa music and baseball. He had a special way of bringing happiness and laughter wherever he went through his wonderful sense of humor and humble, easygoing nature. One of his greatest joys was being Abuelo. To his grandchildren: Alexander Stephens, 13; Benjamin Pastrana, 12; Victoria Stephens, 10; Emma Pastrana, 8; and Max Pastrana, 3 to them he was simply the best Abuelo in the world. The memories, lessons, and special moments they shared with him will remain with them throughout their lives.
Jorge dedicated 26 years of service to the Federal Bureau of Prisons before retiring in 2013. Retirement allowed him to spend even more time doing what mattered most to him—enjoying life with his family and the people closest to him.
Jorge is survived by his wife, Aida V. Pastrana; his children, Joaidy Pastrana, Meralys Pastrana Stephens and her husband, Jeremy Stephens, and Jorge A. Pastrana and his wife, Camila Pastrana; his beloved grandchildren, Alexander, Benjamin, Victoria, Emma, and Max.
Jorge will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
