

was born October 9, 1933 in Waukegan, IL. She graduated from Waukegan
Township High School, Waukegan, IL, 1950 and received her Bachelors of
Arts degree in Drama from Beloit College in 1954 and was a member of the
Delta Gamma sorority. She was a homemaker and was very involved with
community clubs, school volunteering, community drama players group,
church choir and other activities in Lake Bluff, IL. Moving to Florida in 1985,
she became a member of St Luke’s Methodist Church serving in the choir,
making crafts for the holiday bazaars, and sang with St Luke’s Sunshine
Singers, the group performed at assisted living facilities, nursing homes and
veterans hospitals. She was an avid golfer and would share this passion with
her family (husband and sons) and was a member at Rio Pinar Country Club.
She shared her joy of singing with her daughter, who participated with Joy in
the church choir and various community musicals productions. She was predeceased by her husband Robert H Caldwell and her parents Melvin E and Mary L Amstutz. Joy is
survived by her children, Ken (Marianne) Caldwell of Tampa, FL; Scott
Caldwell of Orlando, FL; Todd (Beth Anne) Caldwell of Seattle, WA; Barb
(Charlie) White of Apopka, FL; her sister, Carol Kozma, Seneca, SC, her
grandchildren; Jeff (Naomi) Caldwell, Jennifer (Colby) Marsh, Jason
Caldwell, Austin Caldwell, Davis Caldwell, Bret Caldwell, Spencer White;
and her great-grandchildren Parker, and Andrew.
Her memorial service is on September 15, 2022, at 10am at St Luke’s United Methodist Church, 4851 S Apopka-Vineland Road, Orlando, FL 32819.
Donations are asked to be sent to the church, notating Memorial Garden, to the attention of Kim Paredes, Director of Care Ministries.
