Born Junia Ann Sherman in North Bend, Oregon, on November 29, 1943, Junia moved to Florida at a young age, where she would spend the rest of her life. She graduated from Ft. Myers High School with honors in 1961 and went on to earn her Associate Degree shortly thereafter. As a young adult, she started a life in Jacksonville, Florida, but that life path did not evolve as she had planned. She turned to her faith to seek a new beginning. Her prayers were answered as a beautiful new chapter began when she met the love of her life, Henry (Hank) Marino.
The couple married in 1983, and Junia relocated to Orlando, becoming a part of Hank’s family and embracing her role as stepmother to his four children. She also started a new career as a school secretary in Orange County Public Schools. Junia and Hank shared an active life together, deeply rooted in their community and their faith. They were dedicated members of Holy Family Catholic Church, where they cultivated lifelong friendships. For Junia and Hank, faith and family were always the true center of their world. Junia and Hank celebrated 42 years of devoted marriage before Hank’s passing in Ocala in April of 2026 at the age of 90. Just five months later, Junia has been reunited in spirit with her beloved Hank.
Junia had a special fondness for animals, most notably for her many cats, often caring for any strays that wandered into her life. From her youth, Junia possessed a deep passion and penchant for the arts. She was a gifted artist who found great joy in bringing beauty to the world, particularly with her original acrylic landscape paintings and intricately crafted decorative quilts. Her creative spirit and the beautiful pieces she left behind will be treasured by her family for generations to come.
She is survived by her brother, Robert (Bobbie) Sherman (90), her four stepchildren, Michael Henry (71) and wife Sue, William Perry (67) and wife Jane, Anna Marie (62), and Susan Marie (57) and husband Jeff Santerre; her five step-grandchildren; and her two step-great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, Tamara Hardy, Stacie Sherman, and Dixie Sherman Padilla Royer; her cousin, John Douglas; and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends who will miss her gentle spirit and warmth.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 A.M on October 26, 2026, at Woodlawn Memorial Park (located at 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL), followed by Celebration of Life in one Woodlawn’s reception facilities.
