She was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on September 30th, 1932 to the late Narcisa Caban and Adolfino Acevedo. She spent most of her life living in Greenwich Village in New York City, where she worked as a seamstress and later as a teacher’s assistant with kindergartners.
While living in Manhattan, she found her beloved husband Gualterio Roman. Married 67 years, they built a beautiful family with their two daughters, Sally and Evelyn. When her husband retired, they moved to Orlando, Florida. They’ve been living here for over 25 years.
Her grandchildren, Robert, Christina and Erika, always think of their grandmother Nida when they see flowering plants. Nida’s favorite flowers were carnations and orchids. She also loved her beautiful cockatiel bird that sang to her every morning. She was a parishioner of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church.
Please join us for Visitation from 6-9 on April 22, 2022, Prayer Service to begin at 7:00pm. The Celebration of Nida’s life will take place on Saturday, April 23rd at 1:30pm, with burial to follow at: Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road Gotha, FL 34734 (407) 293-1361
