March 31st 1942 – March 9th 2026 (83)
Our mother Linda Niswonder passed away unexpectedly March 9th, 2026 at Bay View Center in Eustis Florida. Born March 31, 1942 to Ervin and Janice Niswonder in Richlands Virginia. She and family lived In Richlands until she was 8 and their family moved to Chicago. In 1957, the family moved back to Virginia for a year followed by a more permanent move to Florida in 1958.
It was in Florida where her legacy of motherhood began after her marriage to Thomas Williams in 1962 and establishing a home in Kissimmee on Lake Bryan. She and Tom adopted John in 1966, following the birth and quick passing of a daughter, Angela in 1967, and birth of James in 1969. Linda had a lot of fond memories while living on the lake.
Linda divorced in 1972, and moved to Pine Hills, then to Casselberry where she and “her boys” lived for the next 9 years.
In 1982 Linda moved to Vermont, living in Norwich and Vershire. In Vershire she bought the farm as a flatlander up in the mountain, and It was in Norwich where she helped build her cabin in the woods where she had many fond memories off the grid. She had many friends, but none like Jeffrey who was always there for her.
In the mid 90s she moved to Walpole, New Hampshire where she became more active with the local church and made many wonderful friends. During this time she got to travel the world with visits to Panama in Central America and Italy to visit her son John and family.
In 2005 she sold her house in New Hampshire and returned to Florida where she remained for the rest of her life. Linda worked for the Town of Minneola for almost 18 years in the Planning and Water Treatment departments and considered all of her coworkers as family. She really missed them all after she retired. She made many new friends, and developed close personal relationships with Mary Lou, Ellie, Fred and others who made her feel like family.
She is survived by her 2 sons, John (Christy) and James (Gary), and she loved and cherished, even from afar, her 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She loved her nieces and nephews just like they were her own. She was an avid dog lover. Maxwell, Mack, and Gunner, were her best companions over the years. She loved art, painting and listening to music.
Linda was a proud, wonderful, caring and independent mother who loved to help others and would ask for nothing in return. She will be dearly missed. But, she is now reunited with her sisters Nancy and Marty again, God bless them all.
Linda will be cremated and interred alongside her daughter Angela on Friday, March 20th 2026, 12:00 noon at the Woodlawn Cemetery, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734
