Lorraine Marie Couture

Lorraine Marie Couture, 98, entered into eternal rest on July 25, 2026. Born on December 15, 1927, in Hartford, Connecticut, Lorraine lived a life defined by unwavering faith, unconditional love, and joyful devotion to her family. Her favorite saying, "I choose to be happy," was more than a phrase; it was the way she lived every day, inspiring all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman Joseph Couture. This year would have marked their eighty-first wedding anniversary, a remarkable testament to a lifetime of love, faith, and devotion. She was also preceded in death by two of her cherished daughters, Monica Hattaway and Donna Tillot.

She is survived by her loving children: Anita McKibben, Denise Atalski, David Couture, Anne Marie Halback, Janice James, and Michael Couture. She is also survived by her dearest sister, Evelyn Jones and her beloved brother, Harvey (Chick) Seymour, who at 100 years of age remains a cherished blessing and a remarkable part of the family's legacy.

Lorraine's greatest calling was raising her eight children in Orlando, Florida, nurturing them with patience, kindness, and steadfast faith. Her greatest joy was watching her family grow. She was blessed to witness five generations together, including 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Her love, wisdom, unwavering faith, and gentle spirit will continue to live on through every generation she leaves behind.

Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of St. James Cathedral, Lorraine found great comfort in attending Mass and prayed the Rosary each evening. She trusted deeply in God's promises and lived each day with gratitude, kindness, and hope.

Beyond her love for family and faith, Lorraine enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She especially loved listening to music, particularly the timeless songs of Michael Bublé, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with those she loved. Whether sharing a laugh, offering encouragement, or simply being present, Lorraine had a special gift for making everyone feel loved and welcomed.

Lorraine will be remembered for her unwavering optimism, generous heart, quiet strength, and deep compassion. Her words, "I choose to be happy," became a lasting reminder that true joy is rooted in faith, gratitude, and love. She leaves behind not only a large and loving family but also a legacy of hope, resilience, compassion, and steadfast faith that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Although her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in knowing she has been welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior and reunited with those who have gone before her. Her life was a beautiful example of faith in action, and her love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A Catholic Funeral Mass celebrating Lorraine's life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Cathedral, celebrated by Father Miguel, followed by interment for family members at Woodlawn Memorial Park at 4:00 p.m.
