Born in Brooklyn, New York, Libby always identified as a New Yorker. She married the love of her life, Leon, after a short 1 month courtship, raised their family in Maryland, and then retired to Florida. She had fond memories of Coney Island growing up as the youngest of six children. She was the last survivor of her five siblings.
Libby's greatest love was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and now a great grandmother. She also spoke fondly of her work at the Board of Trade in Washington, DC, and at Pooh's Corner, a children's book store in Winter Park, Florida. She was an avid reader herself, and kept her sharp mind by solving crossword puzzles.
Though she was fiercely independent, Libby loved the caring friends she made at Brookdale Dr. Phillips during her last years.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Howard (Sally), Charlotte (Peter), and Jonathan (Terri); four grandchildren, Sarah (Andrey), Elizabeth, Jamie, and Lee; and, her treasured great granddaughter, Sofia.
A graveside service for Libby will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Beth El Memorial Park, 5451 N. Old Dixie Highway, Ft. Pierce, FL 34946.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation in her name to Haddasah, or Reach Out and Read Florida. Scroll down for direct links.
