

Luther H. “Bill” Barfield, 96, of Orlando, FL passed away on April 1, 2015. He was born on August 9, 1918 in LaFayette, GA to the late Memphis and Zuda Barfield. Mr. Barfield was a combat veteran in WWII . He moved to Florida in June 1958. He was a retired mechanical engineer with Martin Marietta. Luther joined the Scottish Rites in Nov. 1959, and then joined the Bahia Shrine in 1983. He was a Mason at his original lodge in Fort Oglethorpe for 60 years. He was a duel member of Eola #207 and Eastern Star Chapter Orlando #131. He loved fishing in tournaments and owned several boats, but off shore was his past time. Luther loved doing yard work and talking with people. He never met a stranger. Mr. Barfield is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Jewell. Survivors include his sister, Emma Lee Lockrey and her daughters, Debbie Hannah and Ann Wilson and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great greats along with many friends. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veteran’s Assoc. in Luther’s memory.
