

Our beloved Magnolia Fichett (Nola) peacefully departed this life March 17, 2012 at the age of 94. Nola was born December 22, 1917 in Alabama to the parents of Arthur Means and Ressie Ziegler. She was one of three girls. She attended her primary years of school in Alabama before attending Tuskegee Institute. Nola moved north to New York City where she met Arthur B. Fitchett. They were married in New York and to that union had a son Arthur J. Fitchett. Nola loved NYC and lived there for 45 years. She enjoyed all the cultural events NYC offered. Nola worked for the NYC Dept of Health until she retired in 1975 and decided to move to Florida with with her husband. Nola was always about family and loved her family dearly.
Here in Florida Nola was not done with work and became a part of the Florida Department of Education. She worked there for 10 years and loved the children.
She was also a member of the Civic Club of Orlando which she loved. She was an active member of Washington Shores Presbyterian church where she met many friends and worked on various committees.
Nola is survived by her son Arthur J. Fitchett; daughter-in law Paula Fitchett; grandchildren, Devin, Keith, and Ashley Fitchett and Marcus Simmons; Nine great- grand children, Eunique, Janiya, Jayden,Torian, Isiah, Kyasia, Devonni, Noah and Neveah; A cousin Brenda Curtwright and a special friend Dorthy Lucas; and many other family and friends.
Nola was preceded in death by her Husband Arthur B. Fitchett; mother Ressie Ziegler; father Arthur Means; sisters Bernice Means and Dora Means.
