

Marcus Alexander Munroe, affectionately called 'Juan', was born in Cuba on January 22, 1921 to Jamaican parents. He spent his early years in Jamaica after his parents relocated back to the island. In1947, at the age of 26 years, he emigrated to the United States of America living in New York. He reconnected with and married his loving wife of 60 years, Ivy Mae, in July 1955, whom he had met in Jamaica when they were both teenagers.Marcus was employed by two major electrical firms in New Jersey before spending the remainder of his career in the mechanical field at the New York City Transit Authority. In 1985, Marcus and Ivy retired and moved to Orlando, Florida, where he remained until he was called home peacefully on Thursday morning, October 29,2015. Marcus lived a fulfilling life and enjoyed travelling overseas on vacation.He was deeply loved by his wife, family, and friends and will be forever cherished in their hearts. Surviving Marcus are his dear wife, Ivy, sisters, Mavis, Uda, and Pat (Jamaica), sister-in-law, Amy, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and wonderful friends.Marcus was a true gentleman with a quiet dignity and charm that left an indelible impression on everyone he met. We were truly blessed to have had him in our lives.
