Marianne Kay Winkler, long time Orlando resident, passed away Thursday morning, July 16th after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She has gone to join her husband of 57 years, John Tom Winkler. She is survived by her three sons, James Taylor Dickenson, Charles Bruce Dickenson, David Thomas Winkler, their spouses, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren and one on the way.
She was born in Greybull Wyoming on May 23rd 1923, to Apollos and Miriam Kay. She had four sisters and three brothers. Over the years she lived in Greybull Wyoming, Billings Montana, Fredericksburg Virginia, Eau Gallie Florida and for the last 56 years Orlando Florida, on her beloved Lake Conway where she became a good water skier and would show-off with tricks if even slightly encouraged.
She thoroughly enjoyed her years as a concert cellist with the U.C.F. Community Orchestra, Disney’s Christmas Annual Pageant, toured with Mantovani Orchestra, as well as joining in on Broadway Touring Plays and Concerts. She was a permanent member of the Brevard County annual concert tour.
She was a dog lover and at no time in her life was she without at least one. She had at one time or another Italian Greyhounds, Pit Bulls, German shorthaired pointer, and mutts.
Marianne was a very bright lady as music was not her only interest. She was employed at RCA, Patrick Air force Base as a data reduction mathematician. She graduated from Mary Washington College, the women’s division of the University of Virginia and was a member of Alpha Phi Sigma National Honor Society.
She passed peacefully with family by her side and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
