Marjorie Carlisle Ambrister

Final arrangements will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25th at Woodland Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL. Viewing will be at 2 p.m., a funeral service with the Rev. Shane Gaster officiating at 3 p.m., followed by a committal service from 4 to 4:30 p.m.

Margie was born in LaGrange, Georgia on Sept. 13, 1923, a daughter of William and Olive (Mae) Carlisle. She married Jerome Ambrister on April 29th, 1950. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan Ambrister of Deland, FL, Angela (Jim) Hyde of Deland, FL, and one sister, Sandra Collier of Slidell, LA; one brother, Larry Carlisle of Debary FL; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother William Carlisle Jr.and a grandchild, Christopher Lundy.

Marjorie graduated from Georgia Baptist Nursing School in Atlanta, GA, served as a Nurse Cadet during WWII, and was Night Supervisor of Nursing at City-County Hospital in LaGrange, GA.

She resided in Lake Charles, LA for many years, where she raised a family and supported her husband’s medical practice. Margie was a long-standing member of the Women's Medical Auxiliary, served as a Campfire Girls leader, was a Lake Charles HS Band Mom, and spent many years on the Wedding Coordination Team for First Baptist Church.

She loved spending time with family, going on cruises, shopping, playing shanghai (card game), eating out, and occasional trips to Vegas with her girlfriends.

Her wisdom and genuine love will be missed by all.
