Mary Anna Dusek was born on September 29, 1931 in Argos, Indiana. Her parents, Rome and Evelyn Zink, were excited to welcome their first child. Mary attended school in Argos and went to Ball State Teacher's College in Indiana. After graduation, she moved to North Judson, Indiana to teach and met Edwin Dusek. They fell in love, married and moved to Florida in 1956.
Ed and Mary had three daughters: Julie Anna, Donna Jean and Nancy Louise. The family lived in several towns in Florida before settling in Orlando in 1972. In Orlando, Mary was the Librarian at Spring Lake Elementary until her retirement in 1997. She helped instill the love of reading in thousands of children in Ocoee.
Sadly, Ed died in 1973. Mary raised her three girls on her own. She was a superb mother. She did not miss a game, concert or activity that her girls participated in. She loved nothing better than watching softball games and cheering.
Mary was an active member of her church, People of Faith Lutheran Church. She loved her Lord and served him gladly in many ways. She loved Garden Club and was a faithful member for many, many years.
Mary was blessed with 7 grandchildren. She would often remark that “all of those boys were so different from the girls”. Different or not, she loved each of them so much.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Rome and Evelyn Zink, her husband Edwin Dusek, and her sister - Martha Zink.
She is survived by:
Her daughter Julie and husband George Johnson, their children Nathaniel Johnson and Matthew and Allison Johnson

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Hospital for Children at www.stjude.org . Mary supported St. Jude's for many years. Her heart was always for children.
She will be missed but we know she has gone home to heaven.
