Mary Josephine Reynolds, 94, of Orlando, FL, passed away January 6, 2025. She was believer of Jesus and knew heaven was her destiny. We are comforted in knowing that she is “absent from the body and [is now] present with the Lord.”
She was born on November 27, 1930 in Tampa Florida to the late James & Annie Montgomery. She was the middle child of 3 girls: Edwina, Mary Jo, and Annette and spent most of her growing-up years in Vero Beach, FL. After graduating from Vero Beach High School, she moved to Orlando to attend nursing school. After completing nursing school, she worked as a nurse at Orange Memorial Hospital (now Orlando Health), Dr. Carducci, and again as a surgical nurse at Orlando Health until she retired in 1985.
Mary Jo met Sidney G. Reynolds in Orlando and they married in September 1951. They bought a house that had just been built in 1952 and she lived there until June 2024.
Mary Jo was an avid gardner and could make anything grow. Her yard was always a tropical paradise! She loved to paint china and spent years painting every week with friends from her church. She was active in her church, singing in the choir, sewing for mission children, and attending Bible studies over the years. Mary Jo also loved the outdoors: fishing, camping, hiking, and working in the yard.
Mary Jo is preceded in death by her husband, Sid, her sister, Edwina, three nieces, two nephews, and one great-nephew.
She is survived by her sister, Annette, her daughters, Sandra Boylston (Sandy) (husband, Jim Boylston) and Teresa Lynn Christmas (Teri) (husband, Stuart Christmas). She has ten great-grandchildren: Harrison, Jackson, Molly, Layla, Joseph, Annabelle, Lilly, Cyrus, Solomon and Noah, with two more great-grandchildren due next summer.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider giving a donation in her name: Navigators (Vivian Christmas); Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, US Humane Society, Doctors Without Borders, and St, Jude’s Hospital.
