Sue McGovern joined her mom and her husband of 69 years on Thursday, May 2, 2013. She was born in 1921 in Wilmington, Delaware, the only child of Preston and Anne Keech Baird. She married Thomas L. McGovern in 1943 and relocated from Chester, PA, to Orlando, where she had spent most of her youth. She graduated from Orlando High School (now Howard Middle) in 1941.
Sue was an active member of the Episcopal Cathedral Church of Saint Luke since 1953 and an active member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Orlando for five years. She treasured both associations and derived many friendships and memories from each. Sue ("Mom Mom") was a prolific painter and her works hang on the walls of many friends and most family. She was also an avid reader. Sue is survived by her son Thomas McGovern, daughter Janice Moffitt, grandsons Joseph and Michael McGovern, granddaughter Cynthia McGovern and great-granddaughter Tiffany McGovern. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends as she joins many who have preceded her.
