Richard graduated from Bexley High School and received his Bachelor's and Master’s degrees from the University of Florida and Rollins College, respectively.
He met and was married to the love of his life, Ida Marie Butler (Byrd), on June 15, 1963.
Richard had a career in aerospace for many years and retired from Martin Marietta, now known as Lockheed Martin.
A devout member of the Park Lake Presbyterian Church, Dick enjoyed attending church and spending time with his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and rooting for the Florida Gators.
Richard is survived by his wife, Marie Butler; son, Alan Butler; grandchildren, Kyle Butler, Dylan Butler, Meghan Butler, Ashley Botelho, Garrett Butler, Chris Butler, Keely Belden and his sister, Kit Gordon.
A funeral service for Dick will be held at 1:00 pm on April 13, 2024 at the Park Lake Presbyterian Church in Orlando, Florida.
