CITRUS PIONEER PASSES ON; Robert S. Kazaros, 92, of Orlando, FL passed away on May 6, 2014 from complications of Congestive Heart Failure. He was predeceased by his wife 8 years ago and was looking forward to being reunited with her, the late Emma Grace Kuenz Kazaros. He is survived by his two sons, Robert S. Kazaros, Jr. and Charles B. Kazaros, Sr. and wife Maria M. Kazaros, 3 grandsons Charles B. Kazaros, Jr., David and wife Jessika Kazaros, and Gregory S. Kazaros, one great-grandson Chase Kazaros, as well as all of his nephews and nieces from the Kazaros family, and nephew Robert Michael Pleva and wife Debbie. Mr. Kazaros was a citrus grower and land owner in Central Florida since 1921. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Florida, and was an honorary member of both the Alpha Gamma Rho and Alpha Zeta Agricultural Fraternities. Mr. Kazaros was also a Gator booster for over fifty years. He was an honorary member of the Country Club of Orlando, where he enjoyed playing golf for many years, and a senior honorary member of the University Club of Orlando. He was in business with his brothers Ralph, Jack, and Richard Kazaros for over 75 years. He was also a citrus consultant for several large citrus growing companies in the state and managed over 5,000 acres throughout his citrus career. Mr. Kazaros was a veteran of World War II and at the rank of Sergeant, he was involved in the Battle of the Bulge, the Normandy Invasion, and several selected missions throughout the European theatre. He was actively involved in the political arenas in Florida and was very involved with the initial election of the late Doyle Conner, Commissioner of Agriculture. He was very instrumental in the elections of former governors Hayden Burns and Claude Kirk. Mr. Kazaros also served on the Florida Citrus Commission for two terms. He really enjoyed being involved in the Florida Citrus Industry. At the request of Mr. Kazaros, a graveside memorial service will be held for immediate family members only at 10:00am on Monday, May 12 at Woodlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers or donations, Mr. Kazaros's wish was for everyone to take a moment and pray for peace, health, and happiness.
