

Roger Alan Greenhut of Longwood, Florida passed away suddenly on December 20, 2012. Born in Flushing, New York on December 23, 1948 to Alex and Sydelle Greenhut. Roger was a man who always brought a special light into the room and made everyone’s life that he touched better. He helped to shape the lives of many of the young people whom he was a part of and helped guide them on their path. Roger was larger than life, the kindest and most compassionate man. He was the true definition of a gentle giant.
Everyone remembers Roger best for his wonderful sense of humor and the warmth and love he extended to anyone whose life was lucky enough to be touched by him. Roger tackled adversity with relish even delighting in decorating his walker for Halloween and Christmas after struggling with a debilitating spinal fusion procedure.
After 2 years in the Army reserves Roger was a graduate of Stevens College and West Palm Beach University. Roger was a pillar in the floral distribution industry for over 24 years with many relationships that turned into longtime friendships. Roger lived a rich and full life, some of his favorite days were spent enjoying the company of his family and friends by his pool. Most importantly, he was a loving husband of 41 years and incredible father.
He is survived by his wife Susan Greenhut, daughter Lindsay Schwartz, son Adam Greenhut, twin brother Richard Greenhut, sister Marsha Greenhut, son-in-law Joseph Schwartz, and loyal, four-legged companion Howard. Additionally, the gregarious Roger is survived by literally hundreds of grieving friends and circles of relationships that extend from his neighborhood of Alaqua Lakes to locations all over the U.S.
Roger attended Congregation of Reform Judaism and Markham Woods Presbyterian Church.
