Roy George Clapham, born June 6th, 1921, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, died on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019.
His mother, Isobel Viola Clapham, died in childbirth and he was raised by his grandparents until he moved to Orlando at the beginning of World War II. He fought in the campaign to liberate the Philippines as a field artillery officer and returned to Orlando following the war.
He married Phyllis Thornton and joined his father, George A. Clapham, as a plastering contractor. He then joined the City of Orlando until he retired.
Roy and Phyllis were founders of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church. They also explored and had many adventures in Florida and other states by canoe.
He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis, son, Douglas G. Clapham and grandson Wesley R. Clapham. Survivors are daughter-in-law, Kay M. Clapham and brother, George L. Clapham.
