

Roy Pierson King, Jr., 73, of Orlando, Florida passed away on August 10, 2014. He was born to the late Roy Pierson, Sr. and Frances Catherine King on March 26, 1941 in Orlando, Florida. Roy graduated from Edgewater High School in 1959. He immediately enlisted in the Army following his graduation and served in Germany for 4 years. When he returned to the U.S., Roy joined the National Guard and in 1963, the Navy. Roy served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy. He became a member of the Fleet Reserve in 1988. Throughout his military career, Roy served time in Vietnam, Korea, and Hawaii to name a few places. When in Hawaii, Roy met his late wife, Trella, and the two were married for 34 years prior to her passing in 2001. Roy attended the University of Arkansas and received his degree in Higher Science and Math in the 80s. In addition to his distinguished military career, Roy was truly an all-around good guy. He loved to sing, and sing loudly. He was a very intelligent man, but was always humble and generous. Roy will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Roy was preceded in his passing by his parents; brother Carl Clinton King; sister Alma Frances Russell; and wife, Trella King.
He is survived by his sisters Roberta Arnick of Blairsville, GA and Catherine Ruth Andrews of Orlando, FL; and many nieces & nephews.
Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 10:00am at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
