Ruby Willine Scherrer

The Lord called Ruby Willine Scherrer home on Sunday, November 9, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family. Born on September 17, 1939, Ruby fell head over heels in love with William “Bill” Scherrer Jr, a proud Navy Airman who faithfully served his country in the late 1950s.

A love like theirs stood the test of time — Ruby and Bill shared 65 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in January.

Ruby was a loving and devoted mother to six children: William Scherrer III (Michelle, deceased), Glen Scherrer (deceased), Dean Scherrer (deceased) (Christine), Tina Beckrow (Keith, deceased), Terry DeMott (Rob), and Tara Dowdal (Scotty).

Her beautiful legacy continues through her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will remember her for her unwavering love, strength, and gentle spirit.

By her side always was her faithful companion, Lucy, her beloved dog, who brought her joy and comfort until the time of her passing.

Ruby had a passion for gardening — she especially loved growing tomato plants from Dean’s seeds, along with her pineapples and colorful flowers. Her hands were rarely still, always nurturing life in one form or another.

Services will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL.
