Sallie was born in Wrens, Georgia to her parents, Algrea “Tinker” and Nina McCorquodale. She grew up with wonderful memories of her youth on the family farm, including catching June bugs and attending football games and dances.
Sallie graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Elementary Education and a Masters degree from Rollins College. She was passionate about teaching young children and impacted many lives throughout her career of 31 years. Her motto was that all students could learn to read – no matter what their background or environment. Even upon retirement, she still offered tutoring and storytelling to children. She dressed up as eight different story book characters, complete with wigs, beards and costumes to bring the stories to life.
Her passion for education was matched only by her love for writing poems and stories, traveling with her husband, and tending to her garden.
Sallie was deeply involved in her church and generously volunteered at the local food bank, reflecting her commitment to service and community. Her warm heart, vibrant spirit, and unwavering faith will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Sallie was a loving wife of 53 years to her husband, Tony. They shared a beautiful romance until her final days. They loved to travel and spontaneously shared many trips to England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Mexico to name a few. Both shared a love for excitement, adventure and living life to the fullest.
Sallie is survived by Anthony R. Greco, her adoring husband and best friend and her step children, Salvatore Greco (Debby), Orlando, Florida, Karen Kania, Clermont, Florida, and Janice Greco Manley (Michael), Jacksonville, Florida.
Her grandchildren, Edwin Greco (Elizabeth), Amanda Simms, Jessica Smith, Erick Manley, Samantha Greco and Tony Greco.
Her brothers, David McCorquodale and Francis McCorquodale.
Preceded in death by her parents, Tinker and Nina McCorquodale, and her step-children, Vicki Greco and Elizabeth Greco Kulow.
