MORAN, SHIRLEY ANN EGAN, passed away to the Lord on Easter Sunday March 31st the year 2013. She was surrounded by her family and passed peacefully among many loving stories of laughter and adventure. Shirley was born in Hornell New York to parents Veronica and Raymond Egan on March 13, 1936. Shirley, a loving wife, mother and friend is survived by a close knit family. She was married to Dennis, her dear husband of 52 years. Shirley was an adoring mother who raised a rambunctious yet treasured group of five. Connie, Suzanne, Cynthia, Michael and Sarah. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren Phillip,Lauren and Cole. Not to forget her affection for sons-in-law Peter, Craig and Steve. She treasured and was a devout sister to her brother Bobby and his wife Carole. She was graciously connected to Mary and Jim Moran. Shirley graduated from Hornell High School in 1954 and went on to attend and graduate from the Rochester General Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. There she established lifelong friendships with many of the nurses. Shirley moved with some of her nursing friends to Fort Lauderdale where they were employed as RN's at the Holy Cross Hospital. Shirley met Dennis Michael Moran as her husband to be in Fort Lauderdale and married at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on February 4th, 1961. Since Dennis was already commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force they were both off to a string of locations over a twenty one year career. They enjoyed their life in the Air Force having an exciting opportunity to travel all over the world. She was proud to share many interesting stories from assignments in Georgia, Germany, Nevada, California, Colorado, Ohio and Virginia. During these travels, their first child was born at a hospital where she worked, with the other four children being born at U.S. Air Force hospitals around the globe. Because of Shirley's great sense of adventure and love for life, she would always let you know that "my bags are always packed and I'm ready to go." The family relocated to Orlando in 1981 when her husband retired from the Air Force and became employed by Martin Marietta. Four of the five children were still in school at that time so each had to be carefully settled into new surroundings with new schools and friends. Shirley was introduced to the Windermere Union Preschool program when Sarah became a student. In 1982 she was offered employment and hence began a 30 year career joyfully participating in the lives of hundreds of children, parents and teachers. For those that she touched, know this meant the world to her and was a life long passion. The children kept her kind in spirit, young at heart and always ready to get up and go. Because of her overwhelming abundance of positive energy, she was coined the nickname "the energizer bunny." If you were to travel the halls of the school one would often hear her say "You get what you get and you don't mind a bit." In proud and loving remembrance. sent with a smile. ? A mass will be offered in Shirley's honor at Holy Family Catholic Church on 04/06/13 at 10:00am. The family would like to give their sincere thanks to the dedicated staff of MD Anderson Orlando.
