

She spent her childhood in Syracuse, living with her Aunt Eva. She met the love of her life Fred while she was still in high school, they planned to be married after she graduated, but war broke out and Fred enlisted in the Army Air Corp. So four years later they were married on July 13,1946.
They resided in Syracuse until the late 1950's when the sold everything and moved to Orlando, FL.
They bought a house in a new subdivision Azalea Park and she lived there over 50 years until she moved to Brookdale Assisted Living in Maitland, FL.
Shirley loved being a wife and mother, she was active in her church Good Shepherd Catholic and made many lasting friends. She was a volunteer at the school, she was a brownie leader, she took her girls Donna and Beverly to dance and music lessons and had dinner on the table every night at 5 o'clock.
When Fred retired they bought a Winnebago and traveled, they loved the mountains and spent their summers in North Carolina. It was at this time that they took up square dancing and genealogy and helped in the raising of their eight grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Donna (Mike) and Beverly Erwine, Her Grandchildren Chris Abbuhl (Darcie) Stephen Abbuhl (Lisa), Shawn Abbuhl (Melissa),Vickie (Gary) Scott Erwine, Kevin Erwine and Annette Freemon ( Chris).
She is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren, Hayden Kindell, Kyla Abbuhl, Chloe Kindell, Anthony Brown, Lexie Brown, Carey Brown Jr, Gracie Abbuhl, Rylie Abbuhl, Christopher Abbuhl Jr, Mason Abbuhl, Jackson Abbuhl, Dylan Erwine, Ryder Erwine, and Devin Erwine.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Sargent and grandson Carey Brown.
