

He was born in Madison, Florida on September 16, 1938.
Summer graduated from Madison County Training School.
He married Hazel Alice Tookes 1968.
Summer had a career in medical transportation for McKesson before he retired. He had a passion for gardening, recycling, traveling, music, driving, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
Summer is survived by his daughters, Sunnier Tookes and Shawan Tookes; grandchildren, Soleil Oladeji, Savon Mack and Solenne Oladeji and his siblings, Velma Tookes-Helton and her husband, Gerald Helton, Beverly Tookes-Cooks and her husband, Chandler Cooks, Mikel Tookes and his wife, Karen Williams, brother- in law, Russell Hale and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel in 2010.
Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734, US, on July 9, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734, US, on July 10, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
A Committal Service will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Cremation Gardens, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734, US, on July 10, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
