Sylem Mae Emmanuela Lindsay was born on June 2, 1931, in the District of Alley in Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies, to Ida Jane Rubie and Cyril Lindsay. There, she met the love of her life, Euriel Fearon, whom she affectionately called “Byfield.”
They relocated to The United Kingdom and were married on June 8, 1957, in Chesterfield, County of Derby, England. There they began a lifelong journey together filled with love, faith, and companionship.
Affectionately known as Sis Fearon, Mother Fearon, Manela, and simply “Syl” to her beloved husband, Sylem lived a life deeply rooted in her Christian faith, service to others, and a passion for learning.
Her dedication to caring for others was reflected in her distinguished career in nursing and midwifery. In March 1964, she earned her Certificate in General Nursing, and in September of that same year, she became a certified midwife. A true lifelong learner, she continued to pursue education throughout her career, earning numerous certifications through continuing education while working in midwifery in the United Kingdom.
Sylem later migrated to the United States with her beloved husband. She continued her nursing and midwifery career, serving communities in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. After many years of dedicated service, she and Euriel retired to Florida, where they continued to serve God and actively participate in ministry.
Mother Fearon was known not only for her devotion to God, but also for the joy she brought to those around her. She became especially well known for organizing packed bus trips to Miami with members of the church—creating opportunities for fellowship, laughter, adventure, and treasured memories that will remain in the hearts of those who shared them.
Although she did not have biological children of her own, Mother Fearon embraced the role of spiritual mother and grandmother to many. Through her love, wisdom, faith, generosity, and encouragement, she touched countless lives and became family to so many.
Mother Fearon was one of our beloved foundation members and a faithful supporter of Fresh Oil Ministries Church of God, Inc., where her presence, service, and commitment to ministry will be deeply missed. Her faith was not simply something she professed; it was a way of life that was evident in the way she loved, served, encouraged, and cared for others.
On Sunday, September 20, 2026, Mother Sylem Fearon passed away peacefully in her sleep. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Euriel “Byfield” Fearon, along with family, friends, spiritual children and grandchildren, and a church family whose lives were forever blessed by her presence.
Though she is no longer with us in body, the legacy of her faith, love, service, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts and lives of all who knew and loved her.
Her life was a testament to faith, perseverance, love, and service. She leaves behind not only memories, but also a legacy of lives touched, hearts encouraged, and souls inspired.
May her memory forever be a blessing, and may she rest peacefully in the loving arms of her Savior. Cheerio, Mother Fearon!
