She was also survived by her brother’s wife Mickey Meadows, her daughters, Cheryl & Lauren and their children & grandchildren…Jackie, Gabrielle, Isabella, Cristian, Nicholas, Kingsley and one on the way, Reign.
Sylvia was born in Weston, Georgia to parents Alvin Emmett Meadows & Ruby Brightwell Meadows. They moved to Orlando, Florida when Sylvia was young and remained in Florida for most of their lives. Confident and independent from the start Sylvia loved the outdoors and spent her childhood outside more than in and called herself a tomboy cause she loved playing sports, her favorites being Basketball & Softball. Sylvia met her husband, Belford Warner, at Boone High School where they both graduated and were high school sweethearts. They married on August 5th, 1956 and celebrated 61 years together before Belford passed. Sylvia went to a business school before they moved and lived in Milwaukee Wisconsin for 5 years where Sylvia worked in an office as a bookkeeper.
They moved back to Orlando where all her children were born and settled in Pine Hills, where they lived in the same house for over 50 years. Sylvia was a wonderful homemaker, a loving & caring ‘stay at home Mom’ who was always happy, encouraging and supportive of her husband & children; she loved cooking and baking making every holiday extra special. She was a talented seamstress & crocheter making everything from Curtains to Prom Dresses and Sylvia was very generous and giving; whenever she heard of a friend or family member who was expecting, she would crochet a soft baby blanket for the birth.
Sylvia was always up for adventure and organized her families weekends and vacations with many fun activities…camping in North Carolina exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway, boating & water-skiing at Clermont chain of lakes, going to Disney & Sea World but refused to ride roller coasters, Canoeing down Rock Springs & Wekiva Springs rivers, Road Trips all over the U.S., hanging out at New Symrna Beach or even just working in the yard. She was a hard worker and loved gardening which showed by how beautifully landscaped the yard was kept. She never learned to drive and had no desire to learn even later in life when her sons tried to teach her to drive a riding lawn mower with no success. Sylvia was a character and a joy to be around. She was known to many as being the sweetest and kindest person, she was honest and extremely smart, quick witted, easy going, loyal and always a little silly. When she learned how to send emails she used ‘Syllie the kid’ as her email address.
Sylvia drew strength from her Faith in God and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Apopka and enjoyed serving the Lord by volunteering for several committees before she moved into an assisted living facility in Lake Mary.
Even though she will be dearly missed, we celebrate her life today and look forward to the great spiritual reunion with her one day.
