In Loving Memory of Thelma "Penny" Ashley-Williams Thelma "Penny" Ashley-Williams was born in Mocho, in the parish of Clarendon, Jamaica, and lived a life marked by faith, independence, hard work, style, and a deep love for family. In her later years, she made her home in Winter Garden, Florida,

where she continued to bless those around her with her warmth and presence. One of six children born to Zephaniah Ashley and Esther Brown, Penny grew up| alongside her brothers, Isaac and Percy, and her sisters, Molly, Grace and Adele. Herl journey eventually took her far beyond Jamaica. She studied nursing in England and worked in Canada before coming to the United States, where she built a 38-year. career as a registered nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Nursing suited her well. She was hardworking, dependable and caring, and patients and

families specifically requested her for private-duty nursing. Penny was fiercely independent and believed in living a full life. She traveled, maintained lifelong friendships, enjoyed good food and beautiful things, and had an infectious smile. She was also a woman of unmistakable style. She loved clothes and never quite felt dressed without her lipstick. Her faith was central to her life. She loved church and gospel music, especially George Banton and The Grace Thrillers. And then there were the little things that made Penny unmistakably Penny: her love of adding plenty of pepper to her food, birthday cards with lottery tickets tucked inside, gospel tapes copied and shared with anyone she thought needed to hear them, her appreciation for a handsome man, and her habit of pinching children's cheeks. until they learned to cover them when they saw her coming.

She was a sister,

mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, nurse, aunt and friend. In her later years, dementia may have quieted her voice and limited the independence that had defined so much of her life, but it could never erase the lifel she had already lived or what she left behind in others. And that is how we will remember Penny: beautifully dressed, with her lipstick on, laughing and kicking up her feet, dancing, gospel music playing somewhere in the background, and that|familiar twinkle in her eye. Penny leaves to cherish her memory: a loving husband, Carol Williams; her sisters, Molly Pusey, Grace Robinson, and Adele Williams; her son, Paul Niataira; her daughter, Kareem Fenner; her granddaughter, Danielle; her grandsons, Brenden and Rhys; several sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws; and generations of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, along with the many people whose lives she touched

A Funeral Service will be held at Orlando Metro West Church of The Nazarene operating as THE WAY, 3705 N Apopka Vineland Rd, Orlando, FL 32818, US, on October 17, 2026, 11AM. The visitation from 10 - 11am. Interment will follow the funeral in the Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha Fl
