Timothy Michael Bird, born April 3, 1989, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2014 from complications of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at the Shands & UF Health Hospital. Tim was born in Maryland and became a permanent resident of Florida in 1993. Timothy attended the Spring Lake Elementary school in Altamonte Springs and later graduated from Sebring High School in 2007. After acceptance into the University of Florida, he became a resident of Gainesville.
Timothy has been a true inspiration to the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy community for many years. As a fighter, Timothy has fought for his life the many times he has been hospitalization. His goal was not to die from this disease. His mother, Dee, advocated for him for many years and is the reason he lived a long and prosperous life. Timothy supports the Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, an advocacy organization for Duchenne.
Timothy had a love for the Japanese Culture and Anime. With so many as his favorites, he spent hours watching videos, down-streaming on his Roku and, of course, his favorite, Hulu Plus. He enjoyed his music with Linkin Park and Evanescence being his favorite.
Timothy is survived by his mother, Deborah “Dee” & his father, Victor M. Lopez; his younger brother Joshua Lopez and sister Samantha Lopez. He is also survived by his Aunts Linda (Bird) Yates, Donna Bird, Jeanette (Bird) Buscemi and Uncles, Michael Bird and Danny A. Vieira; Carlos Lopez, Eddie Lopez, David Lopez, Jesus Lopez, Angel Lopez, and Alberto Lopez and the many cousins including Christian D. Bird who has been like a brother to him, his grandparents, Richard & Diana Bird, Angel Lopez Sr. and Mary Nieves, and life-long friend Kevin Hamilton.
He is preceded by his grandmother, Clara “Candy” Pichardo-Vieira.
