I first met Vanessa after she had begun her battle with cancer.  she was planning a party for her Aunty Pam.  I remember getting off of the phone and thinking, "what a sweet and kind heart to be planning this when you have so much else to worry about."  when we finally met in person, she was SO kind and warm.  And, happy!  And, yes, that beautiful smile was in place.  What a sweetheart!

May all of Vanessa's family find comfort.  Vanessa, rest in peace.  Your kind spirit and joy in life will not be forgotten.



I came into your life 6 years ago as your aunty.  Omg  you use to laughs so much when you calls me aunty knowing that i would say "don't call me that" and we would laugh but when you dont listen to to me i would say "you best listen to your Aunty".we had so much fun after getting to know you. All of our trips together, or conversations, times we spents together don't forget your Blonde Moments, well thats what your Uncle calls it. 
You are so one of a kind Gem, Very rare, and beautiful in everyway.
We loved you and  will miss you in everyway.

Vanessa, Although we never met I felt like I've known you forever! I work with Lynn Bahadur who is a such a wonderful and  beautiful person.  She told me all about you from the beginning of your fight!  Almost everyday after that, I needed to go see her just to see how you were doing and always prayed for the best.  You fought this thing very hard like a warrior and yet your beautiful smile always shined through.  🌞  I wanted to let your family and friends know that you also touched my heart!!  Rest in peace my sister, my friend! 

Vanessa was a very helpful and courteous lady at Riverside Bank. I can never forget that beautiful simile of on that Angel. She has definitely gone to a better place to rest and may the Almighty give all the strength needed, to her family to overcome these difficult times. My prayers are with the family for the departed soul. RIP


Vanessa always wore a smile and never sweat the small stuff!  So beautiful and a warrior.  I will cherrish our times together and will never forget her beautiful smile, laughter, conversation and most of all heart! Gone way to soon.

It was a blessing to have someone like you in my life. You were there for me when I was lost . The short hours we sit and talk  and spend together worth a life time of happiness.you were more like a daughter to me  than a friend,aunt etc. always looking out for me checking up on me how I was doing after my dad passed away .It was a blessing to be with you fighting  your battle with cancer from the beginning to end.
On 8/16/2018 you left a picture in my mind  I thought you were coming back to us with a speedy recovery laughing, thumbs up , hug and kisses saying goodbye and all the fun stuff before I leave that day not knowing that was our last day to see each other but even that you did not make it the last  I had to be there for the end which meant a lot to me.
You are gone from me now but one thing they can ‘t take away your memory resides inside my heart .

Just a few years ago, we sat on our couch eating chips with mango sour while we look for a movie to watch. We giggled so much that night because it took us hours to find something to watch. 
We're looking back at pictures we took and messages we sent because we can not believe that your journey on Earth is over.

Vanessa, you were such an amazing person. You always provided a positive example for everyone around you, even during your battle with cancer. You fought with great courage and hope, and your life will remain an inspiration to all who knew you.

Sincere condolences to Joan and her extended family.  I never had the opportunity to meet Vanessa,  but I feel like I know her from her journey  she and her mom shared on FB, and what a journey it was. She was indeed a fighter, and smiling through every pain, sometimes she was hopeful and other times she was ready to give up.  Looking at her FB pages  with her posts and pictures, I can tell she was a beautiful, colourful and happy young lady, her life on earth was too short, but she left her mark, meaning she will never be forgotten. I met you when you were a little girl, so sweet and full of life, you spent the day at wales with us and you were so much fun, made me realize why my brother loved you so much, he talked a lot of little Pinky and when he did introduce you to us you were every thing he said you were, sweet, smart and funny, I am happy I had a chance to meet you and I hope you Mom finds comfort in the fact that you were an amazing person, she raise a strong young lady. Death !the condition that can never be understood and difficult to cope with, but has been concored through Christ our reigning king. Pinky was a wray of light, a shinging star, a bresth of fresh air and a jewel in the night with her radient smile, pleasant personality and loving and caring attitude. How can we ever forget her. I went to jhs 210 with Vanessa and she was always happy and cheerful to be around. I lost contact with her after we graduated and reconnected back in 2015 when I was invited by our other childhood friend to meet up but I could not make it so I took her number and called her. We spoke a few times on the phone and I ask her to please continue to share her story cause it can help others and she said she would and did all the way to the end. She said to me last year during our phone conversation that she is happy that God chose her to fight this batter instead of her family and friends because it’s such a hard battle to fight and it broke my heart and I will always remember her as an angel because her heart was truly pure as gold and I hope that God will take her under his wings and allow her smile to cheer up the sad on the other side as she has done in this world. Truly one in a million and I will always love her dearly.

My Sunshine, I  can't begin to explain how much I am going to miss you. I remember the 1st day I met you and I didn't know that our friendship would blossom into such a beautiful relationship, you became more than my friend, you became a beautiful sister. You have touched the lives of so many from young to old. This orbituary is only allowing 2000 words so it's not enough to say all the things I want say. I was truly blessed to have you in my life and so was Barry and the kids. You thought all of us to never take things for granted..you mottos were "LIVE LOVE LAUGH" and "LIVE EACH DAY LIKE IT WAS YOUR LAST". My baby you were only 3 weeks old in my stomach when the doctor said "you are pregnant" I knew then that I was gonna make someone special to share my life with. I made you mama, I love you and you were my everything  to the  day that you breathed your last and you will be for the rest of my life. I will miss you so much everything that I have been doing in my life you were a part of. I shared every sorrow, every happiness and every tear with you all my life. What am I going to do without you mama I do not know..... I do not know how I am surviving every day... I am hurting soooo much. Who am I going to church, shopping, restaurants etc with? I remembered Mama I asked you "is there anything that you want me to do for you" and you said "yes mama" I got excited because I said yayyy I can do some something for you. I said "what mama what is it"... then you put your tiny hand and rubbed my face and said  "mom all I want for you to be happy"... I said "mama do you think I can do this" You said " try mama try mama" how can I do this alone mama.... there is a void in my whole body that nothing can fill no matter how long I live. You have lived your life to the fullest, you took everything no matter how hard or soft and just weighed the positive out of it. You were a remarkable human being, you touched everyone you made contact with. I am reading your posts on social media and I am so proud of you because of the footprints you made and souls you have touched. I love you mama, you will forever be in my heart, I can still smell you, I can still feel you...Always be there you were my rock... you will never fade from me...RIP my baby..

An angel lived amongst us;  and now, that her purpose on earth is complete, we are celebrating Vanessa Ann's ascend back to God, and at the same time, honor her wishes today.

She was the most compassionate, beautiful, and loving person I have ever met. Everyone has their own battles going on and we all handle it different. This is the only person I've ever known that took on lifes challenges with the brightest smile in the world no matter what and a zest to live that even motivated me to leave my house. She was in the fight of her life and still asked about others and how they are doing. She taught us to live, value our limited time here and remember to help others when we can. I can go on to no end about this amazing soul but I'm sure many others will be pointing things out. From the moment you entered our lives in 1984, your pinknessa had us enthralled.  We did not let you leave the house without a matching bonnet, shoes and socks. It was something that you embraced throughout the years. You grew up to be a strong, compassionate, independent, so full of life- they are just too much adjective to mention. Your heart was so pure, you did not bear ill towards anyone even when they hurt you so much.  You never let anyone mess with me.  They are so much wonderful and funny moments with you but I loved being your technology person. You never fail to call on me to fix your excel sheet.  And your ah-ha moment were so precious.  You always say " Aunty Pam, what will I do without you?"  So what will I do without you?  I never thought about losing you so I never said I love you.  You would never leave until I said I love you too.  Your leaving has left such a void, you have taught me so much about being the better person and to leave the anger behind.  You got me to wear makeup(I hate wearing), pluck my eyebrows(hilarious), going to the gym- they are all wonderful simple things yet so meaningful now more than ever. I promise to wear a little make up, pluck my eyebrow once a year, and go to the gym every day.

Gone too soon we would say, but the almighty with the master plan has made his decision... you were an amazing young lady... carried  smiles as if it was painted on your face.. I’ve know you for so many years but got the honor to spend a few hours with you during your last visit to Guyana .  While telling me about your illness and treatment you were brave and smileed and made it seems like you are prepared and everyone else should expect and be prepared for when you depart .
