Virginia "Jenny" Blanks

Virginia “Jenny” Blanks 83, went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2012. Born in Chambers County, Alabama, to Andrew and Stella Mae Blanks. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Blanks. Virginia was from a farming family of four boys and four girls. While having only one daughter, who preceded her in death, she was “Nana” to six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Jenny loved to travel around the country. When she wasn't traveling she would spend time with family and really enjoyed doing word search puzzles. Her life was connected to her living siblings, to their children, and to her own grand kids. She spoke encouragement into their lives and lifted their spirits with her ever-ready response to their expressions of love to her when she would answer, “I love you more!” Jenny is preceded in death by her husband, James Blanks and her daughter, Carol Herrera. She is survived by her stepson, Joelee Blanks, stepdaughter, Joyce Blanks; brother, Carthel Blanks; sister, Patricia Battles; six grandchildren, Deborah Parham, Wayne Hurt, Beatrice Sawyer, James Herrera, Cynthia Casey and Robin Virginia Hatfield; on step grandchild; sixteen great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; twenty-five great-great grandchildren. Funeral services are to be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. Service will be conducted by her niece’s husband, the Reverend Dennis Short of Cornelia, GA. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until noon. The funeral service will be held at noon in the chapel at the funeral home. Interment will follow immediately in the cemetery.
