Born in New York, Ginny built her life in New Jersey, where she raised her family and enjoyed a fulfilling career in education. After retiring, she moved to Clermont to settle in her dream home at Summit Greens, where she embraced her golden years with joy and grace.
Ginny studied sociology at Montclair State College and dedicated over 30 years of service to Newark Public Schools, working in various roles across both elementary and secondary education. Her lifelong commitment to helping others extended far beyond the school.
Known for her warm and caring demeanor, Ginny had a gift for making everyone feel seen and valued. Whether with a kind word, a listening ear, or a heartfelt conversation, she touched countless lives with her genuine compassion and joyful spirit. Her strong Catholic faith was a guiding light in her life, and she often prayed to St. Jude and Padre Pio. She was also an avid dog lover and leaves behind her beloved toy poodle, Baby Bear.
Ginny is survived by her three loving children: Janette Rivera Nieves and her husband, Carlos; Dario Rivera and his wife, Elena; and Kelly Scibilia and her husband, Louie. She was a proud and affectionate grandmother to Stephanie, Joseph, Matthew, and Mikayla, who will always remember their Grammy’s soft hands and warm hugs. Ginny is also survived by her dear sister, Lois Flood; her devoted brother, Luis Nieves, and his wife, Linda; as well as three caring nephews and a kindhearted niece.
A Funeral Mass will be held in Ginny’s honor on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont, Florida, followed by a memorial service at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause dear to Ginny’s heart.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love she gave so freely.
