Virona Maud Girardi

It is with deep reverence that we announce the passing of Virona Girardi, a remarkable person who graced this world for over a century. Virona departed from this life on 23rd August, 2023, leaving behind an indelible legacy of love, wisdom, and a lifetime of cherished memories.

Born in Gatun, Panama and raised in the parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica, Virona, the third of twelve children born to Ralph and Ina Nosworthy, embarked on a journey that spanned an entire century, bearing witness to the changes and events of the 20th and 21st centuries. She was a living testament to the resilience of the human spirit, demonstrating unwavering strength and determination in the face of life's challenges.

Throughout Virona's long and vibrant life, she touched the hearts of countless people, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a source of inspiration, wisdom, and endless love for her family and friends.

As a centenarian, Virona accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience, donating her time in the community and traveling the world. She offered valuable insights into the past. She imparted invaluable life lessons, and her ability to evolve with the changing times was a testament to her adaptability and enduring spirit.

Virona's love for her family was immeasurable. She was a dedicated mother to Patsy and doted on her grandchildren and great grands. Her warmth, kindness, and unconditional love created a strong and loving family bond that will endure through the generations.

In Virona’s free time, she enjoyed spending hours at a time in her garden which brought her great joy and allowed her to meditate on life’s blessings.

Virona's remarkable journey through life reminds us all of the importance of resilience, love, and the pursuit of experiencing all that life has to offer. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts and minds of all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished for generations to come.

As we say our final goodbyes to this centenarian, let us remember the lessons she imparted and the love she shared. May Virona's soul find eternal peace and may we find solace in knowing that she lived a life full of love and fulfillment.

Funeral services for Virona will be held on 9th September, 2023 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, Florida with visitation beginning at 10:00am, and celebration of life beginning at 11:00am, followed by the interment.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the American Red Cross in Virona’s name.
