

He was born in Munford, Alabama on November 28, 1921. Walter graduated from Munford High School.
Walter was married to his wife Leatha in 1941. They had one daughter Delores Lyn. Both preceded him in death.
Walter served in World War II in the Army infantry in France where he received a Purple Heart. His sole employer was AT&T where he retired in 1984.
All those who met Walter were greeted by a kind-hearted, God loving, inspirational individual who always put others ahead of his wants. Walter was always the Southern gentlemen who stood when a lady entered the room and ensured each of his guests were treated with the utmost generosity and kindness.
He was a member of Powers Drive Baptist Church, and later Beulah Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon at various churches for over 70 years.
One of 14 children, he is only survived by a sister, Mabel Dowdy. He is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Beulah Baptist Church, Winter Garden, FL at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 25, 2022. There will be viewing beginning at 1:00 PM at the church. An additional graveside service will be held at Forestlawn Gardens in Anniston, Alabama, on Monday, March 27, 2022 at 11:00am.
