Wilma spent her early years in Barbados, where she was born, and came to the United States as a teenager in 1960. A Registered Nurse, she received her training at Hunter College, City University of New York from which she earned undergraduate and graduate degrees. Over the years, she worked at various hospitals in New York City and at the City’s Board of Education. After retirement she moved to Orlando, Florida.
Wilma loved her family and friends. She was a kind and caring person who extended her concern for others to her volunteer work at St. John’s Episcopal Church as a member of the Community Outreach Program, feeding and helping the less fortunate in the Orlando area. She was also a member of The Coalition for the Barbados Association of Central Florida.
She was predeceased by her parents, Norma and Roderick Belgrave; aunt Inez Price; uncle Everton Phillips and sister Velda Brathwaite. Wilma leaves to cherish her memory: husband Russell Havercome; son Orriell Havercome; grandchildren Devon and Jordan; sister Novello Penick; brother Ophnel Larrier (Barbados); niece, Dana Larrier; nephews, Ronald Penick, Keith Larrier, Mervyn Larrier; brother-in-law, Alexander Penick; cousins, Idalia “Dee” Holder, Phyllis Prescod (Robert), Monica Phillips, Avis Catlyn, Adrian Catlyn; godchildren, Kay Leslie, Michelle Bishop, Dr. Aisha Holder and other relatives and friends in the USA, UK and Barbados, too numerous to mention.
We will miss her but she will remain in all our hearts forever. Rest in Peace.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
