I just learned of Aunt Zoe’s passing today.  Aunt Zoe was an important part of my childhood and she was my mother’s best friend and sister-in-law.  I unfortunately lost touch with her when she moved to north Florida.  She is dearly missed.

So sorry to hear of Zoe's passing. She was my mom's (Opal Group married to Dale MacBeth) cousin and I remember so many wonderful holiday dinners at Chester and Zoe's house as a kid. I remember her prune cakes and apple crumble, and she was always so thoughtful to remember birthdays with sweet notes and cards. We also traveled to Hawaii with Zoe and Chet in 1977. I always tried to visit when we were in Orlando. This is the last photo I have from 2021. 

May you rest in peace Zoe and be reunited with Chester and Frank in heaven and all those who have gone before you. I will miss our calls and hearing your voice. 

And thank you Gail for taking such good care of her.

Aunt Zoe visited our Brockport, NY home and created wonderful memories on each visit.
1  The first time Zoe came to our house for her sister's (Eleanor) surprise birthday party, I picked her up at the airport.  On the way home, we stopped at the grocery store for some produce.  Even though I grew up in the country on a chicken farm, she taught me her "better ways" of picking out produce. It was so special how she instantly became a part of the family whenever we were together.
2.  On this visit, I barbecued a turkey for the dinner.  At that time, it was not a common thing to do.  We were surprised by how many photos she took of it.
3.  Speaking of photos, there was a large, old barn on the property next to our property.  She explored that barn, found the section with the  cow stanchions, inserted herself in one of the cow stanchions and had us take photos with her camera.  She kept smiling and chuckling - ah, that Group sense of humor :)
4.  Zoe liked our house and decided it was the "perfect" place for the antique, wooden, crank wall phone that she had taken from Pennsylvania to Florida.  It is still mounted prominently on our wall.
Zoe was always a kind and generous person.
5.  On my many business trips to Florida, Zoe and I had many conversations.  We didn't always go to Disney World or other attractions.  She would have suggestions for places I should visit, like the Peabody Hotel to see the daily march of the ducks across the road.  All of those suggestions were grreat.  But it's the conversations that were the best.  Zoe was always kind, warm, loving, clear and articulate.
That is why she created so many wonderful memories.

There are so many memories and conversations with Aunt Zoe that are precious to us.  Here are a few:
1.  I remember the first time Ann & I flew to Florida to stay Aunt Zoe & Uncle Chester.  We had our first son (Paul) and Ann was pregnant with Jill.  We were greeted so warmly when we arrived at their house.  We enjoyed picking oranges from their many trees - they were so delicious fresh from the tree.  Chester said the pawcans (not sure of the spelling) were the best.
2.  Zoe provided suggestions on places to go in addition to Disney World.  We visited Alligator Land , Cypress Gardens , Cape Kennedy, Circus World,  etc.  Zoe went with us to Disney World and Cypress Gardens.  Chester gave us lots of info about Cape Kennedy.
3.  One of the places we went to with Zoe had giant sea turtles.  Paul was 4 years old and Zoe suggested we put him on top of the turtle for photos.  While we were taking photos, the turtle started to walk.  Paul had a shocked look on his face.  Zoe and Ann couldn't stop laughing.  This was my introduction to the Group sense of humor as I rescued my little boy from the turtle................................
4.  On a later visit, Zoe went to Disney World with us.  Our children were not tall enough to go on the new Thunder Mountain Roller Coaster but Zoe said "I'll go on that with you Jon".  So we went on - I had no idea that she would be able to SCREAM so much.  It was fun :)
5.  When I had business trips to Florida, I would visit Zoe.  She taught me how to get in and around Disney World in those days (much more flexible back then).   We went to the Grand Floridian a couple of times.  The first time, she introduced me to alligator nuggets.  The second time was in the Christmas holiday season, she showed me all of the overwhelming and beautiful  Christmas decorations.
Those are some of the many Florida memories.
Zoe has always been a thoughtful and loving family member.

Here's a great picture of the two Group girls.  My Mom's 80th birthday and my Aunt Zoe giving her a gift of 80 dollar fan.  We had a sweet night celibrating.  My Aunt Zoe will be missed and mostly from her little sister Eleanor who is 91.  We know you are at peace right now and we will see you again someday when the Lord returns or we get to heaven first!!  I'm sure you are having a great time with Uncle Chester and Frankie .

Zoe was a dear friend of mine and was known lovingly as Grandma to my two children. I grieve the loss of my wonderful friend but know she was ready to finally reunite with her loved ones who passed before her.  I’m so thankful for all the wonderful years we had as friends. She was a loving person and will be missed by my family and I. 

My name is Bonnie Haskell Smyers and Zoe was my cousin.  Her mother was my Dad's sister. Zoe lived with my parents for awhile when I was just a little girl. She always talked about the old days and how much fun  they had,  She grew up in the Gardners, Pennsylvania area.  That was where she met her husband, Chester Delp and then they moved to Florida.  Every time they came back to Pennsylvania, they would always visit our family.  The last few years Zoe and I would talk many times on the  telephone.  She was always interested in how our family was doing.  I will miss those phone calls,Zoe. We love you and now you are together in Heaven with all your family.  May God bless you.

Yoou will be missed by many. You always had a smile and a kind word for everyone you met. No one was a stranger to you. You treated everyone like family.  I will miss talking to you on the phone but know that I thought of you all the time.  Tell everyone hi for us as they welcome 🙏 you home
