Alan attended and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Mt. Morris, Michigan.
A proud United States Army Veteran, Alan served in the Vietnam War operating a D9 Dozer—service he held with deep honor and lasting pride. In the years beyond his military service, he found steady joy in the simple, meaningful pursuits that made a life well lived: fishing wherever there was Walleye, camping, doing puzzles, and woodworking. Above all, Alan cherished his very large family and took great pride in being a devoted grandfather.
Alan is survived by his wife Sandra Decker, children Scott (Diane) Decker, Eric (Shannon) Decker, and Matthew (Heather) Decker; step-children Gina (Michael)Still, Dina (Yashpal) Chhabra, Tommy J. (Lagea) Mull, and Cassie (Jake) Thiemens. He is also survived by many beloved grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
