

A. James Stach passed away in his home town of Grand Blanc on January 30, 2017 at the age of 89. He was born in Detroit in 1927, attended Detroit Eastern High School. James served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Area with the "China Marines." James enjoyed music, traveling and gardening. His passion was playing the accordion and piano. He played his accordion with the Al Thomas Polka Band in Detroit and the Harmony Notes in Flint, and the piano at the Grand Blanc and Burton Senior Centers. He retired in 1991. James is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Laura; nine children: Donald of WI, Marvin (Vicki) of Ortonville, Dennis (Sue) of Flint, Marie (Chuck) Wilbur of FL, John (Valerie) of OR, Robert (Kate) of Livonia, Janice (Dale) Jewett, of Kalamazoo, Karen of FL; 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, James. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc with Father Gary Koenigsknecht officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 4-8pm at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, and on Thursday at the church, one hour prior to mass, beginning at 9:30am. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan with military honors.
