Beloved husband, loving father, faithful friend -- Welcome home my good and faithful servant -- Arnold answered God's call on July 30, 2021 and went to his heavenly home, where the fish will just jump right into the boat and the big one won't get away.
Arnold Weston Fletcher was born July 6, 1937 in Goodrich, MI, the only child of Fern Mae Hooker Fraker and Weston William Fletcher. Weston died when Arnold was six months old and was raised by Weston's sister and her husband, Marjorie and Gordon Mancour. Arnold graduated from Grand Blanc in 1955 and served honorably in the Air Force for twenty years retiring in 1976. Arnold worked for Victor George Oldsmobile as a new car salesman and service man for fourteen years. Arnold was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ for over fifty years before attending Central Church of the Nazarene; a proud member of the American Legion Post 413 where he served as Post Commander and as the Post Chaplain. He was a Retired Life member of the Grand Blanc Huntsman Club, a Benefactor Life member of the National Rifle Association and was a long time NRA Certified Instructor and a Michigan DNR Hunter Safety Instructor and a member of the Flint Tennis Club. He was a supporter of the Flint Olympian and CANUSA games.
He was preceded in death by his father, Weston, Aunt Marjorie and Uncle Gordon Mancour, his mother Fern Carlson and stepfather, A. Vernon Carlson and cousin Bonnie Jean Dodge who was raised like a sister, and stepson Daryl Dean Campbell. Arnold is survived by his wife of 34 years, Dorothy, and his three children: son Dwight Fletcher (Kim) of Lansing, MI, daughter Ramona Scherba (Darell) of Grand Blanc, MI, and daughter Kim Rasch of Battle Creek, MI; grandchildren: Amanda Konkle (James) of Otis Orchards, WA, Stephanie Standley (Andy) of Ortonville, MI, Ranee Fletcher of Flint, MI, and their mother Ok Hui, Hannah Scherba (Logan), Nicholas Scherba (Sarah) of Grand Blanc, MI, Jennifer Hank ( Nathan) of Flint, MI, and Greg Baird; stepdaughter, Debbie Arnesen (Kevin) of Cygnet, OH and step-grandchildren Jennifer Jacques (Eric) of Cygnet, OH, Andrew Arnesen (Kaitlin) of Findlay, OH, Brittany Parker (Michael) of Utah, Brooke and Brett Campbell and their mother, Toni Campbell of GA; great grandchildren: Brennah, Zoe, Madelyn Jacques, Olivia Arnesen, Sadie Taget, Oliver and Miles Hank; and step-great grandchildren, Meagan and Jake Standley, brother Grant (Libby) of Apopka, FL and sister, Patty Carlson of KY; nieces Claire, Amanda, Meredith, Allysan, Kaitlin and their families and nephew Scott Dodge; many dear and faithful friends, Wayne and Margaret Meade and Dale and Mary Lou Statson, and best friend of 80 years Joe LePard (Joan).
Per the family's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive guests for a memorial visitation on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 2pm at Brown Funeral Home,1480 East Hill Road, Grand Blanc, MI, followed by a memorial service at 3pm officiated by Pastor Rob Prince. The service will be available to the public via livestream at www.brownfh.com. A private inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to CANUSA Games or to the Flint Tennis Club.
