

BROWN, Arvil D. – age 87 passed away at his home on July 8, 2016 in Swartz Creek, Michigan. Funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 with one hour visitation prior to, at South Flint Tabernacle – G-3450 S. Saginaw St., Burton, MI 48529 with Bishop Robert Henson officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 2 PM - 4 PM and 6 PM – 9 PM at Brown Funeral Home – 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Interment will take place on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 9:30AM at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Arvil was born on October 17, 1928 in Beech Grove, Arkansas to the late Duman and Bessie (Yates) Brown. Arvil married the love of his life, Dorothy (Veteto) Brown, on August 7, 1948. They started their lives together in Arkansas on their cotton farm until they moved to Michigan in 1955. He would often tease Dorothy, that she was the faster cotton picker. Arvil served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Korean War. He worked for GM at the Chevy V8 engine plant for 30 years, retiring in 1986. Arvil was a man of great detail; he loved tending to his Chevy Truck, tractor, garden, home, and beautiful property. He was a member of South Flint Tabernacle, and he loved his fellow church members. In 2006, he was awarded Pillar of the Church. He also spent many moments in their woods hunting deer, squirrels, and rabbits. He loved to play horseshoe and checkers with his family and friends. Arvil is survived by his wife Dorothy (Veteto) Brown; children: Evelyn Dillon and Ramona (Greg) Nolan; grandchildren: Erika (Steven) Glasco, Mackenzie Nolan, Bradley (Sue) Nolan, Angela Sams, Kristy McNeil, and Brian McNeil; great-grandchildren: Tyler Glasco and Parker Copping. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. Arrangements under the direction of Brown Funeral Home, Grand Blanc, MI.
