Munroe, Barbara A. (Babcia) age 89, went home to the Lord on June 2, 2026. She was born in Flint, Michigan on November 14, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Burek, who were of Polish descent. She was very proud of her Polish ancestry. Barbara graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1954. She then attended Flint Community College and refined her shorthand and secretarial skills. She used these skills while she was employed at AC Spark Plug. A highlight of her career was when she was crowned Miss AC in 1957. She later was employed with Fisher Body 1 until her retirement in 1985. She married Lynn Munroe Jr. on July 25, 1980. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2022. Lynn’s job took them away from the Flint area and they moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where they resided for 35 years. Their families were top priority, and they were involved in their children’s and especially grandchildren’s lives. Together they generously planned and paid for annual overnight weekend trips to Mackinac Island for the whole family to enjoy every summer. The ferry rides across the lake, bike rides, shopping, card games, ice cream, pizza parties in the park, horse and buggy rides, meals together, sunsets, toys and games have all made wonderful memories as the families grew over the years. Her daughter, daughters- in-law and granddaughters especially treasure the annual Junior Babcia League meeting, full of laughter and fun. Her smile and laugh was infectious, she truly was a cheerful giver as well as a devoted Catholic with a wonderful sense of humor and zest for life. She was so blessed to see and enjoy her 10 great-grandchildren. Shopping, traveling, meals out, and playing cards were her favorite things to do. She was so loved and she will be greatly missed until we meet again.
