Graves, Betty Jane (Osborne) – age 88, died at her home in Goodrich, MI on Saturday, July 9, 2022. Betty was born in Kingsford, MI on December 11, 1933 to Robert and Germaine Osborne. She lived in Iron Mountain, MI until her family moved to Flint, MI in 1941. A graduate of Flint Technical High School Class of 1951, Betty married her high school sweetheart, Vernon M. Graves, Jr., in January 1952 and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage together until Vern’s death in 1997. There was not a day that Betty did not wish Vern was still at her side. Vern and Betty moved from Flint to Goodrich, MI with their four children in 1970, and she continued to live there until her death. Betty enjoyed her home and her family. She liked to work in her yard and loved the years she and Vern spent boating around little lakes nearby, and Lake St. Clair near Harsens Island in later years. Betty was a reader. She enjoyed biography books and cozy mystery books, and she liked to read the newspaper. Betty was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Otisville, MI and felt very much at home within her parish. She looked forward to Saturday Mass. She enjoyed attending the retiree meetings at Local 651, playing cards with her sisters, cousin, and friends, and the company of her family. Betty was very proud of her 7 grandchildren and enjoyed seeing her 6 great-grandchildren and hearing of all the adventures in everyone’s lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her infant brother Howard Osborne, sister Marge Anspaugh, and 3 nephews—Benjamin Anspaugh, Michael Hipkins, and Darrell Osborne. Betty is survived by her four children: Daniel (Carol) Graves of Flushing, MI, Diane (Edmund) Lis of Baja California, Mexico, Denise (Kevin) Jackson-Hamilton of South Boardman, MI, and Debra (Steve) Baughan of Grand Blanc, MI; 7 grandchildren: Bradley (Ashleigh) Jackson, Lindsey (Ben) Corrigan, Kayla (Rob) Baldree, Jennifer (Spencer) Trezona, Amanda (Tito) Mendoza, Ross (Amanda) Baughan, and Scott (Katie) Baughan; 6 great-grandchildren: Brayden, Iain, Clara, and Brienne Corrigan and Holly and Alexandra Baldree. She is also survived by her sisters, Jeanette Allis and Joyce Hipkins, her brother, Robert Osborne, and 11 nieces and nephews. Betty leaves an empty space in everyone’s heart where her love was always present and she will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, MI on Tuesday, July 19th from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 212 Center St., Otisville, MI on Wednesday, July 20th at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flushing, MI.
