April 1, 2016 – September 12, 2016
Bryce Douglas Hansard was granted his angel wings on September 12, 2016 after spending 4 days in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Hurley Children’s Hospital. He spent his final days surrounded by family and friends that he had touched throughout his short, yet memorable life. Bryce passed from the loving arms of his mother into the waiting arms of Jesus.
Born April 1, 2016, in Grand Blanc, Michigan, Bryce was the son of Craig and Adrian (Straub) Hansard.
Bryce’s life would seem too short to many, but those whom he touched understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. In the 5 months Bryce was with us, his family was blessed with the opportunity to take a vacation to Florida. As a family they got to explore Disneyworld, Universal Studios and Daytona Beach. They also spent time visiting Craig’s family in Virginia. Towards the end of summer, Bryce attended Auntie C’s wedding in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He was a well-traveled little guy and these family moments will be cherished for years to come.
In his short time with us, Bryce never lacked personality. He never spoke a word, Bryce’s voice and thoughts could always be heard. His internal clock kept mommy and daddy on their toes, as Bryce knew when it was bottle time almost down to the exact minute. This healthy appetite led to the nickname “fat boy”. It also led to lots of shopping trips for mommy as Bryce needed a new wardrobe every month or so. In addition to eating, Bryce enjoyed the time he spent being held like a sack of potatoes by his family. Throughout the past couple months, Bryce learned to coo, smile, laugh, and had begun rolling around when playing on the floor. His favorite colors were navy and bright green as those were the colors of his cherished toy football and car.
With Bryce’s passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his giggles, he will forever remain in our hearts. Through his teachings about life, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be his parents. We are so thankful Bryce’s sisters, Emily, Kimmie, and Bryelle met their brother so they can hold dear the memory of Bryce and the times they spent with their Brycey Boo.
Bryce leaves to mourn his passing, his loving parents, Craig and Adrian Hansard of Grand Blanc, MI; three sisters, Emily, Kimmie, and Bryelle; maternal grandparents, Ray and Ginger Straub of Monroe, MI; paternal grandparents; General Douglas and Barbara Hansard of South Hill Virginia, Yvonne Coleman of Glen Allen, Virginia; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other loved ones.
Visitation will be held Friday September 16, 2016, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan with a memorial service beginning at 1:30pm.
