

Born in Petoskey, Michigan on July 2, 1947 to Chester and Arthella (nee Rought) Knowles. Charles served his country with the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1965 to 1968, when he was honorably discharged. He was a preacher and pastor for over 30 years and served as Sergeant-at-Arms for the Ogitchedaw Veteran and Warrior Society in Saginaw, Michigan. He loved fishing in Petoskey, hunting, morel hunting, and driving through the woods to enjoy nature. He loved studying the Word of God, playing the guitar and making music. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.... often joking just to make himself laugh.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol Ann Knowles (nee Bassett); children: Candy (Joseph) Broniak, Angela (James) Handy, Laura (Randy) Williams, Tammy (Rodney) Karas, and Charles (Kimberly) Knowles, II; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters: Arlene (Carl) Deaver, Della Christine (Richarad) Blanchard, Dorothy Knowles, Phyllis (Donny) White, and Virginia (Lyle) Little; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Arthella Knowles; brothers: John Knowles, Chester Joseph Knowles, Henry Knowles, and Ervin Knowles; and sister, Mary McNeil.
At this time, the family has chosen to remember Charles privately. A celebration of his life will take place in the summer of 2022.
