Cletus Paul Hawtin

Cletus Paul Hawtin, age 95 of Burton, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019. He was born on August 8, 1923 in Casa, Indiana to parents John R. and Eleanor (Marshall) Hawtin. He served in the US Coast Guard in Iwo Jima during WWII. On April 27, 1946 he married the late Gladys “Irene” Hester who precedes him in death. Cletus loved square dancing, listening to music, singing, playing the Hawaiian guitar, traveling, woodworking and gardening. But most of all he loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was their mentor through life and loved them unconditionally. Cletus is survived by his wife, Ruth Meade; children: Wesley (Julie) Hawtin, Dennis (Mary) Hawtin, Connie (David) Plamondon, Calvin (Chris Alloway) Hawtin; daughter-in-law, Karen Hawtin; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by first wife, Gladys “Irene” Hawtin; son, Leslie Gerald Hawtin; grandson, Todd Hawtin. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc. Pastor Sue Judd officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 4-7pm and again on Tuesday, two hours prior to the service, beginning at 1pm. Interment at Flint Memorial Park. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Cletus.
