It is with profound sorrow and deep love that we celebrate the life of Daniel "Dannyking" Wright, a man whose heart beat with fierce loyalty, boundless love, and an unmatched spirit. He passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the age of 30, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, strength, and laughter that will never be forgotten.
Daniel was a true force of nature — a free spirit who lived life on his own terms, yet never failed to show up for those he loved. He was a protector at heart, always ready to stand up for his family, friends, and even strangers who needed someone in their corner. He didn’t play about the people he loved — if you were his, he made sure the world knew it.
A proud mama’s and daddy's boy through and through, Daniel shared an unbreakable bond with his mother and father — not only in love, but in personality. Stubborn? Absolutely. Headstrong? Without a doubt. But it was that same fire and feistiness that made him the pillar so many leaned on. Just like his mama, his strength was matched only by the softness of his heart.
He adored his children — they were his pride, his joy, his reason for everything. To his kids, he was more than a father: he was a hero, a best friend, and a safe place. He loved hard, cared deeply, and never once let the people in his life down.
Though he may have been tough on the outside, those who truly knew him saw the heart of gold that beat beneath. He laughed loud, loved fiercely, and protected relentlessly. His memory will live on in the stories we share, the values he instilled, and the love he gave so freely.
Daniel is survived by his parents Brenda (David) Pickett, sister Cheyenne (James) Horton, brother David Pickett II, children Lydia, Antonio and Sofiya, fiancée April Russell, grandfather Terry (Bridgett) Pickett, and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews whose lives were forever changed by knowing him. He was one of a kind — and we were lucky to have had him.
Daniel was preceded in death by his brother Michael Roat, grandmother Terry Pickett and grandparents Rosalie (Howard) Black.
Rest easy, "Dannyking." You were deeply loved, and you will be forever missed.
In honor of Daniel, memorial contributions may be made to the Pickett family.
The funeral arrangements for Daniel are private.
