Debbie was proud to be a Viking (Flint Northern), where she co-captained the tennis team in her senior year, and a Wolverine (U of M), where she continued her path to an early career in writing. Later in life, Debbie obtained her Master of Social Work from Hunter College in New York and worked as a discharge social worker/planner before returning home to Flint to help care for her mother.
Debbie loved to read, to sing, to dance, and to laugh. She will be remembered by friends and family as a bright light, full of love and compassion, and a good friend.
Debbie is survived by her mother Faith, her brother Todd (Diane Brody), and her companion Doug Cope, as well as by many cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Norman.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 2 PM, in the chapel at Machpelah Cemetery, 4615 Branch Road, Flint, MI 48507. There will be a Zoom Shiva Minyan for family and friends, Wednesday evening, October 29th at 7 PM.
