She completed her Millwright apprenticeship training in 1982 along with an associate degree in Applied Science Industrial Supervision & Management from the Charles Stewart Mott Community College in 1983.
Diane worked as a millwright for AC Spark Plug, a Division of General Motors until her retirement in 2005. She held memberships in the UAW, Flint Tennis Club, the Genesee County (Flint) Historical Society, The Flint Institute of Art and the Flint Genealogical Society.
Diane considered her greatest achievement in life to be her four children: Deborah, Daniel, Norman and Bonnie. She is also proud to be among the first wave of women Millwrights at GM, paving the way for future women to achieve success in skilled trades.
Diane delighted in being a grandmother and her grandchildren affectionately referred to her as “Gramma Train”, referencing the hobby train set that was installed for their enjoyment. She passed on her love of the arts to her granddaughter who has similar interests and talents.
During her adult lifetime, Diane enjoyed tennis, warm afternoons on a pontoon, art shows, and traveling, having a particular fondness for Mackinac Island, Traverse City, and the Leelanau area. She grew into her role as a dog lover to various 4-legged grand dogs and would, without hesitation, offer dog sitting services to spoil them.
